Tonga has a tropical climate. This means that there are basically two seasons - a hot and humid 'winter' season (November to April), and a drier, milder 'summer' season from May to October. The latter season has less chance of rain, however, the summer season sees more flowers.

Tonga may have one or two cyclones a year. These usually occur during the summer months of November to April. Tonga's islands cover a vast area, and cyclones tend to be more prevalent in the northernmost islands.
